Plein Air Oils on Anglesey

Welcome to Plein Air Oil Painting

Plein air isn’t about sitting outside, grimly determined to paint whatever the weather, but should be an essential part of your creative process. The central aim of plein air is to gain inspiration by seeing and experiencing a location under various weather and light conditions. The colours one sees when working en plein air, and the impressions one is left with cannot be gleaned from a photograph or Google search. For most painters plein air is overwhelming; light changes rapidly, weather makes simple things more difficult, and the sheer amount of visual information can be hard to reduce to a good ‘paintable’ idea.
As the UK’s leading specialist oil school we will teach you not only to paint en plein air but to use plein air as part of your creative process. Our tuition is based on the methods of the masters and you will be taught to see and paint like Monet, Corot, Constable, Turner, Seago and other plein air masters. By seeing a view through the methods and eyes of masters you will find that working on location revitalises and refreshes your creativity.

We have a wonderful location for your Plein Air course; on Anglesey which offers incredible vistas of the majestic mountains of North Wales, plus dramatic coastlines and the unique landscapes around Copper Mountain on the island itself

In common with all Norfolk Painting School courses, our Plein Air workshop is taught, not just facilitated. So you’ll receive tuition in the School’s plein air methods, as well as useful, practical feedback on your studies from the previous day before you set out.

Course only £599 with our Pay Now Pricing ( £699 standard price) , as a stand alone 5 day workshop.

This course includes all materials used on and for the workshop (just bring yourself!), plus a light lunch, notes, refreshments and tuition by our trained Anglesey Tutor Jane Paice, plus a  full time studio assistant so you don’t need to set up or scrub down.
